Apple has not released any new iOS devices since last October, so the market attention is not as high as the Android market, but Apple’s sales have always just relied on its unique ecosystem and hardware configuration. Whether there will be new iOS devices in the near future will depend on whether there is a new iPad Air released in March.

It should be noted that figures in this ranking list were calculated from January 1 to January 31, 2023. The results in the ranking list are average scores instead of the highest scores. The model configurations listed are the ones that received the most running score results for each model.

No.1: iPad Pro 6 (12.9-inch)
Average score: 1,428,931

No.2: iPad Pro 6 (11-inch)
Average score: 1,295,288

No.3: iPad Pro 5 (12.9-inch)
Average score: 1,209,363

As before, the top five on the list are still five iPad products, with the top two being the two iPad Pro 6 products released on October 18, 2022, which scored more than 300,000 points ahead of the iPhone 14 Pro series released in the same year.

The performance benefits of iPad Pro 6 come from the M2 chip, which offers up to 15% faster 8-core central processing, up to 35% faster 10-core graphics, 40% faster neural network engine and 50% more memory bandwidth than the M1. The iPad Pro 6 also features ProMotion Adaptive Refresh Rate, Native Display and P3 Wide Color Gamut to significantly enhance the experience.

It is worth noting that the iPad Pro 6 (11-inch) and iPad Pro 6 (12.9-inch) screens do not differ only in size. iPad Pro 6 (11-inch) is an LCD screen, while iPad Pro 6 (12.9-inch) is a mini LED screen, so some of the screen characteristics are different.

In third and fourth place on the list are two iPad Pro 5 products released in 2021. Although the iPad Pro 5 series is equipped with a chip inferior to the M2, the overall configuration and experience of the series is not very different from the iPad Pro 6 series, in fact, the earlier released iPad Pro 5 has a higher cost performance.

In fifth place is the iPad Air 5, released on March 9, 2022, with an M1 chip that gives it the same level of performance as the iPad Pro series. It features a 10.9-inch display with straight sides, and a flat back, a USB-C port, and support for WIFI-6. The screen configuration is the biggest difference between the iPad Air 5 and the iPad Pro, with the iPad Air 5 featuring a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display.

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max only ranked sixth and seventh on the list. They are followed by the iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPad Pro 3, which have very little difference in scores.

That’s all for the iOS Performance list in January 2023.
