HTC Zara getting a little brother? Zara Mini makes an appear

Rumors about the HTC Zara extend back a little over a month by this point. The solidly mid-range Android has subsequently seen its specs leak, as well as a possible render. As we still wait to get the official story on this phone, a sibling has already emerged, with HTC’s model 301e rumored to be the Zara Mini.

Revealed through official TENAA filings, the so-called Zara Mini definitely looks like a downgrade from the bigger Zara, losing its stereo BoomSound speakers. The specs we’ve heard attributed to this model reinforce that notion: the Mini’s dual-core SoC would only run at 1GHz, it would have just 512MB of RAM, and the main camera would top out at five megapixels. Even the software sounds lackluster, with Android 4.1.2 instead of the 4.3 mentioned for Zara. And while the Zara Mini would get a 4.3-inch display, it may only be in a 480 x 800 resolution.

Suffice it to say, we’re not particularly excited for the arrival of this Zara Mini. Right now, launch plans are just guesswork, but the TENAA appearance combined with rumors of dual SIM support make an international Asian launch sound likely; we also wouldn’t be surprised to see this guy pop up in Europe at some point.
